From the Holler!: New Year’s Edition

The unofficial hiatus is over.  I taught another class at the University of North Georgia, which was an absolute thrill. I finished up my first semester teaching at West Hall High School, another amazing experience. Additionally, I worked some on the side with friends on a new political blog/podcast. We’re still ironing out the kinks on that project. I cannot begin to count the number of times I’ve sat down to write a new post, or share an event, only to get sidetracked. However, it is my New Years Resolution to be more attentive toward this blog. What better way to start the year than some recent highlights?  Continue reading “From the Holler!: New Year’s Edition”

Gettysburg Address

From the Holler: Gettysburg Address, Edition

It has been a while since I last posted on this site. I have been completely bogged down by work, more work, and paper work. Every time I get an idea or a start a new post, life got in the way. Granted, I have taken on a few new leadership positions this year and I am coaching at a different school. So here’s a few things worth note as I get back into the usual routine.  Continue reading “From the Holler: Gettysburg Address, Edition”

From the Holler!

It has been awhile since I’ve had a chance to update the blog. In part because I have been on Summer vacation and I needed a mental break. The other reason is because I’ve been in hot pursuit of a new teaching and coaching gig. I’ve received some great offers but unfortunately those coaching positions did not come with a solid teaching position. I was recently offered a head coaching position with a truly great school but the school did not have any social studies positions and I had to turn them down. I’ve just spend too long studying history to switch to a different subject even if it is only for a short time. Such is the life of a public school teacher. Anyways, here are some updates. From the Holler!

It has been awhile since I’ve been able to update this blog. In all honestly, I’ve been so busy the past couple of weeks I haven’t given the ol’ blog much thought at all. Two weekends ago I attended the most recent Appalachian Studies Association Conference and what a magnificent experience that was. I returned for one week of school as the history department attempted to cram in the Vietnam War before Spring Break. Now that I’m on Spring Break, my feet continue to move. The hustle continues tomorrow as my grandfather and I make a trek through East Tennessee towards Independence, VA on a genealogy journey. I’ll be sure to update as the trip unfolds. Until then, check this out this project I came across at the most recent ASA Conference.

From the Holler!

I am slowly but surely getting back to a normal schedule which will hopefully mean more and frequent posts in the future. As you can see, the blog is going through a few updates. If you look at the navigation bar, I’ve added a page dedicated to genealogy research. This is a brain child of my grandfather and I. For as long as I can remember my granddad has poured over the family history in his own infinitely long research project. The new page is meant to keep the research going and to make it easier for long lost relatives to access what he has found (and what I will continue) so far. The first entry will be a doozy. In the mean time, here are some snippets that came across my news feed. Continue reading “From the Holler!”

From the Holler! (MLK Edition)

It’s been awhile since I’ve posted but I have been extremely busy. A lot of changes at school have me eyes deep in a constant stream of paperwork and planning. I’ve also been extremely busy coaching wrestling; especially now that we are in the latter half of the season. This past weekend, these terrific young men placed third in Georgia AAAAAA State Duals.

Anyhow, here are a few updates…  Continue reading “From the Holler! (MLK Edition)”
