Brooks Simpson received confirmation from the Richmond Police Department that no record exists of the incident involving Rob Walker and Monument vandals. I think the Flaggers, or Susan Hathaway at least, need to come out and explain exactly what happened. Does embellishment or just outright lies exist in this story? This can’t bode well for other Heritage advocates. As Simpson said, “How appropriate given the commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the wounding and death of Stonewall Jackson.”
Well I don’t know about appropriate, but how ironic.
This morning a member of the Public Affairs Unit, Richmond Police Department, contacted me in reply to a request for information concerning reports that VCU film student Rob Walker fended off two individuals intent upon vandalizing the Jefferson Davis monument in Richmond until police arrived and took the two individuals, both of whom had been tased by Walker, and handcuffed them.
What does the Richmond Police Department have to say about this tale, including a claim that a 911 call was made (all 911 calls are recorded)?
“We can find no record of such an incident ever occurring.”
That might help explain why there’s no record of it and no report of it anywhere other than in the breathless prose of one Susan Hathaway.
